If you live nearby, this is a great opportunity for you to see an influential contemporary philosopher (and Christian) discuss an important topic that affects all members of society. I strongly encourage PFC members to attend!
Charles Taylor at U of W
Canadian philosopher Dr. Charles Taylor, professor emeritus at McGill University and author of A Secular Age and Sources of the Self, will be giving a free lecture at the University of Winnipeg on Thursday, October 28th at 7:30pm in the Convocation Hall. The lecture is entitled, "Solidarity and Diversity in a Secular Age: Managing Belief and Unbelief in the Public Square." Did I mention it's free?

Jordan,
Thanks for posting the information about Charles Taylor--I encourage Philosophy Foosballers to attend Taylor's lecture at the U of Winnipeg.
To make the philosophical feast even better, it turns out that U of Manitoba's Campus for Christ is bringing in the Christian scholar-scientist Kirk Durston a few days before Taylor's visit to U of Winnipeg and a day or so after. Durston is a philosophically astute scientist, with a heart for serving God in the academy.
Durston holds the following degrees:
Ph.D. (Biophysics)
M.A. (Philosophy)
B.Sc. (Physics)
B.Sc. (Mechanical Engineering)
Durston is also the national director of the New Scholars Society.
Here is Durston's (updated) speaking schedule:
